The 7th joint Nordic Development Research Conference (NorDev) is held 21-23 August 2023. It is organized by Uppsala University and the Swedish Development Research Network (SweDev). The thematic focus for the conference is Co-creation for transition towards a sustainable society.

The conference will be held on-site from the 21st of August 12.00 am until the 23rd of August 13.00 pm (CEST) in Uppsala. The conference covers roundtables and a number of panels and working groups on the topic of the conference.

The call for papers is now open. The deadline for paper abstracts is 1 March.

While the conference has 12 themes for paper submissions, below you will find the presentation for the call for papers to Panel 7:

Panel 7: Making International Development Cooperation Work

This working group focuses on the longstanding question what makes international development cooperation successful; a question that has attracted new attention in the face of a changing world order and a new international aid architecture with an increasing number of diverse development actors and innovation in international development cooperation. Particular focus is given to donor-recipient relationships in the management, delivery and implementation of international development cooperation.

While the panel/working group (series of panels) is based on paper presentations, it also seeks to stimulate co-creation and wider debate. We invite papers from all disciplines and from junior as well as senior scholars. We also invite papers or participants from thinks thanks, consultancy firms and the policy making community in order to contribute to co-creation.

The working group is co-organized by SweDev and the Development Research School and led by Fredrik Söderbaum and Jesper Sundewall.
