The Future of the Development Research School

DRSphdworkshop

With 2025, this original era of the Development Research School is coming to and end, but the programme committee is hopeful about the future of the school.

The Development Research School - an international collaboration between Lund University, Uppsala University, Gothenburg University and the University of Ghana - was established in January 2022 . The focus of the partnership has been sustainable development and poverty reduction in low-income countries, and aspects of governance, power, and inequality in particular.

The Development Research School was initiated with two main objectives: (1) To contribute to high-quality and boundary-crossing doctoral research in the focus area. (2) To strengthen collaboration and networks between the four partner universities and between individual doctoral students within and beyond these universities.

The initiative has been funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet), 2021 - 2025.

Throughout these years, the partner universities have hosted a variety of interdisciplinary doctoral courses. The work program has also included a development research seminar series, webinars, policy dialogues, and other capacity-building and skills training activities.
